Sea Life: Alphaprints – Roger Priddy (2018)

My son wasn’t interested in books until he was 2 years old. I bought all types of children’s books with textures, buttons and big colourful pictures… Nope. Not interested. Not before he was 2 anyway. So imagine my surprise and delight when my daughter, who is only 15 months old, wants me to read to her CONSTANTLY. ALL DAY EVERY DAY! At last now all the baby books my son didn’t want to read as a baby are getting a lot of use.
I knew my son would enjoy this book. Although he is 4 years old now and can manage slightly more complex story lines now, he still enjoys picture books, and is obsessed with everything to do with the ocean (and dinosaurs). But it was my daughter who hogged this book, toddled away into her bedroom and wouldn’t let her brother read it!
Sea Life is a delightful picture book filled with all kinds of ocean life, and beautiful colourful illustrations which cleverly use normal everyday objects to make parts of the animal. With embossed fingerprints also making up the body of the animals, they are fun for the little ones to touch. My sons favourite one was the crab with pegs as arms. He thought it was hilarious!
It is colourful and cute and is captivating for the little ones. Sea Life is perfect for the kids to flip through and explore for themselves, as well as a great book to read all together.
It is a great size, and is a good quality board book so each page is strong and will resist rough and careless little fingers and hands pulling at the pages.
Would I recommend Sea Life: Alphaprints?
Absolutely! It would make a wonderful addition to any baby or young child’s bookshelf!
Many thanks to Pan Macmillan for a copy of Sea Life for my kids and I to review.
